Many have not been able to rationalize spending so much money on LED lighting even though more than 50% energy savings can be realized. Sometimes, it’s not the price at issue, but the difficulty in matching incandescent and fluorescent colors (Kelvin values) to the LED ones.

With LEDs it can be harder to achieve that warm light effect which many prefer to the white-blue light commonly found in the cheaper “Home Depot” variety of LEDs.

Then there’s the laser-like direction of the LEDs’ light in a narrow beam.

Luckily, there is a compromise: Induction lighting.

What is an induction lamp? It’s a fluorescent type bulb without the metal electrical contacts used to conduct electricity from the fixture to the light-emitting gas inside the bulb. The lamps are capable of saving a generous 40% over their fluorescent counterparts, and some models boast a life expectancy of up to 100,000 hours.

What is the advantage of not having metal contacts on the bulb? When a bulb heats up, the metal and glass components expand and contract by different amounts. After many cycles of heating  and cooling, the lamp’s glass becomes stressed by this pulling and pushing, and the contact area between the glass and metal can become compromised. Eventually, air leaks in and the bulb is no longer functional.

Induction is the process of transmitting energy via an electro-magnetic field. The light emitting gas inside the bulbs is excited, or energized when located within a sufficiently strong EMF, or electro-magnetic field, which is induced by passing alternating current through a coil, or inductor.  This means that electricity-conducting metal contacts are unnecessary on the bulb, and the bulb will experience longer life.

Other advantages of induction lighting are better color rendition, and better control of the bulbs color range from daylight to soft white. The Kelvin values match the accepted standard. Our induction lighting fixtures are manufactured in the United States, and can contribute points towards your LEED project.

Please consult with your local expert to determine if inductive lighting is right for your project and will, in fact, translate into LEED points and the resultant tax savings. If you would like more information, brochures or pricing on induction lighting, please contact us by phone at: 443-502-0085.

We have sold many thousands of these induction bulbs already and have a terrific track record on their quality. References are available upon request.

    Read the download spec sheet at the top of the article titled “induction mercury.”

    It shows you that induction lights contain less mercury than regular fluorescents, and remember, by reducing electricity usage by close to 50%, YOU’RE causing less coal to be burned and thus less mercury emissions into the atmosphere.

    Induction lights are a win-win!

      Yes, i can’t agree with you any more…

      Its excellent features of long life and energy saving bring a promising industry.

      and the high frequency induction lamp has a little difference with the low frequency induction lamps from the shape, function and application etc.

      we can offer you good quality induction lamps. good service of course will be followed.

    If I want to buy lamp for road way lightings, which one is better, induction lamp or led. We formerly use 250w and 150w sodium lamps.

    Which one is better, led or induction lamps.

      Romeo, I am emailing you a lamp comparison chart which shows value in terms of lumens / watt, CRI, warranty, life in hours, etc. for LEDs, Induction Lighting and various more standard types of lighting.

      Anyone else who wishes to receive this information can fill out the contact form above and we will reply within 24 hours.

          Hello Ronald,

          In order to make a recommendation, it would be helpful to know your application, what wattage, is it a retrofit, etc?

          We have had some bad experiences with certain induction lighting products, especially Chinese induction lighting, over the years, and although they are warrantied, it is not worth the hassle. Note that many induction lighting products, even those that claim to be made in the USA, still contain a large percentage of Chinese content.

          We represent a very reliable, high quality, super efficient LED retrofit company which designs and manufactures its products in the USA, using domestic components.

          If I knew about your application and company, I could make some recommendations.

          In addition, we can quote our products with three acquisition options, in order of risk to you, from least to most:

          1) Shared-savings performance contracting, where you don’t pay for the product or installation up front but simply share the savings over the predefined term until ownership of the equipment is turned over to you;

          2) Lease-to-own;

          3) Outright cash purchase;

          Please contact us to determine which of these models best applies to your application: 443-864-3072.

          Thank you for any information you can provide.

    • By Laura, October 31, 2011 @ 3:58 am

      Romeo,
      the induction lighting is especially used for the place, hard to replace, for its long life span.

      so for the road way lightings, the induction lamp should be better choice.

      more discussion with me, post me

      Regards,
      laura

      make sure that comparison chart is true about led and induction. if the induction good why still contain mercury? we shoul think not only for us but for our kids and next generation, pls protect our green , keep away from mercury and not only look about money.

      • By Guru, November 11, 2011 @ 10:52 am

        Very true -- thanks for making that point. Mercury is a concern, and since that chart was produced LED efficiency has almost doubled, which is why I recommend visiting our new LEDs section at: http://www.marylandgreenpower.com/greenpower/category/led-lighting/ LED lighting’s color renditioning (CRI) and lumen output have improved greatly. Plus, the intensity and remote color control features of certain RGB LED’s are very attractive and impressive for decorative applications. Finally, LED lamps’ ability to direct light without the need for reflectors makes them inherently more efficient on a lumens / watt and now even a cost basis. Wholesale prices are not published for those LED lamps and must be requested. You can email your requests to: sales@marylandgreenpower.com

      Vijay,

      Comparison charts, specifications, white papers and other informative literature on Induction lighting can be downloaded at the links near the top of the article.

      Although you must hit the LIKE button in order to see those links. we don’t collect any data and will not contact you simply for LIKING the article.

      But we do appreciate you sharing this information with your contacts. Much of it is generic to the industry and can be used to create energy saving analysis for your customers which will help you sell more lighting (hopefully ours!).

      In a few days, we will include on online interactive induction lighting Return on Investment calculator with advanced features, taking into account not only energy savings, but savings in maintenance labor and materials replacement costs, effects from reduced load on HVAC systems, etc.
